Upper Thailand gets colder, thundershowers in the South

The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Wednesday (February 19) that the strong high-pressure system from China covers the Northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea while stronger easterly winds prevail across the Gulf.

Cool to cold conditions in the morning continue in the North and the Northeast with temperatures dropping by 1-3 degrees Celsius in the North, Central and East regions.
In the South more rain and the strong winds and waves are forecast in the lower Gulf from Surat Thani southward with waves at 2-3 metres high. All ships should proceed with caution and small boats should keep ashore, the department advised.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
Northern region: Cool weather in the morning, temperature lows of 17-22°C and highs of 30-34°C. Temperature likely to drop to 3-14°C on hilltops.
Northeastern region: Cool to cold weather with strong wind and isolated rains, temperature lows of 15-20°C and highs of 28-32°C. Temperature likely to drop to 6-12°C on hilltops.
Central region: Cool weather in the morning with strong wind and isolated rains; temperature lows of 20-22°C, highs of 31-34°C.
Eastern region: Cool weather with strong wind and thundershowers in 10 per cent of the area; lows of 21-23°C, highs of 32-34°C; waves 1-2 metres high.
Southern region (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the area; lows of 22-24°C, highs of 30-32°C; waves 2 metres high, rising to 3 metres during thunderstorms.
Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the area; lows of 23-25°C, highs of 31-34°C; waves 1-2 metres high.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy and strong winds; lows of 24-26°C, highs of 33-35°C.
