SET drops in wake of another cut in GDP forecast

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) closed at 1,505.54 today (February 19), down 8.14 points (0.54 per cent) from Tuesday's, with a total volume of Bt68.72 billion.

The SET index moved between 1,501.74 and 1,523.61 during the day.
Tisco Securities had predicted a drop in the SET index with support at 1,495-1,505 points and resistance at 1,520-1,525, due to the latest downward revision of gross domestic product growth forecast this year by NESDC.
Top ten stocks with the highest trade values were BAM , AOT, PTT, SCB, GPSC, PTTEP, GULF, CPALL, BBL, and MTC.
Elsewhere in Asia, Japan’s Nikkei index closed at 23,400.70, up 206.90 points, or 0.89 per cent.
China’s Shanghai SE Composite index closed at 2,975.40, down 9.57 points, or 0.32 per cent, while Shenzhen SE Component index closed at 11,235.60, down 70.89 points, or 0.63 per cent.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index closed at 27,655.81, up 125.61 points, or 0.46 per cent.
South Korea’s KOSPI index closed at 2,210.34, up 1.46 points, or 0.066 per cent.
Taiwan’s TAIEX index closed at 11,758.84, up 109.86 points, or 0.94 per cent.
