China allows non-Wuhan residents to leave

Chinese authorities have allowed non-Wuhan residents to leave the city today (February 24) after it was under lockdown for a month, while World Health Organisation (WHO) experts landed in the city for the first time since the dreaded Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak.

The Chinese government said non-Wuhan citizens can leave if they have not shown any symptoms or touched a patient with Covid-19.
Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province in central China, which has a population of about 11 million people, has been shut down since January 23 after authorities suspended public transport both inbound and outbound to stop the deadly virus from spreading. It has reportedly killed more than 2,500 Chinese.
China’s National Health Commission (NHC) said WHO experts have visited two hospitals and the Wuhan City sports centre and briefed NHC director Ma Xiaowei on what they have seen.
The daily number of infected people, which peaked at 14,000 in a single day, has seen only a hundred new infections in the last several days, while the number of patients who have recovered is nearly 25,000 from the more than 77,000 throughout the country as of today.
