Virus worries plunge SET under 1,400

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) dropped beneath 1,400 point in morning trading on Wednesday (February 26) amid concerns over the COVID-19 virus strangling the economy.

As of noon, it was down 42.06 points, as slide of 2.92 per cent from the previous day, reaching 1,397.04 on news that more virus cases had been confirmed worldwide.
Daily trade volume was Bt46.761 billion, with an index high of 1,428.35 and a low of 1,388.02.
A stock analyst at Krungsri Securities has predicted that the index will fall between 1,415 and 1,420 points because of the spread of the virus, which is hammering the global economy and oil prices. 
Elsewhere in Asia:
Japan’s Nikkei index closed at 22,370.84, down 234.57 points or 1.04 per cent.
China’s Shanghai SE Composite index closed at 3,017.39, up 4.34 or 0.14 per cent.
Shenzhen’s SE Component index closed at 11,670.60, down 185.48 or 1.56 per cent.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index closed at 26,718.10, down 175.13 or 0.65 per cent.
South Korea’s KOSPI index closed at 2,079.96, down 23.65 or 1.12 per cent.
Taiwan’s TAIEX index closed at 11,433.62, down 106.61 or 0.92 per cent.
