Gold price drops as baht appreciates
The price of gold dropped by more by Bt100 per baht weight on Friday morning (February 28), the Gold Traders Association reported at 10.24am.
At that hour, price to buy a gold bar was Bt24,550 per baht weight while the sale price was Bt24,650. Buying price of gold ornaments was Bt24,104.40 and sale price Bt25,150.
The prices had dropped by about Bt100 per baht weight from Thursday’s close due to the strengthening baht, which rose to Bt31.56/USD. The global gold market was still buoyant because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
On Thursday, buying price was Bt24,650 per baht weight and selling price Bt24,750, while buying gold ornaments were priced at Bt24,210.52 and selling price was Bt25,250.
