Minister distributes face masks to O-Net exam students

The Minister of Education, Natthaphon Theepsuwan, handed out face masks to grade 12 students who came to take the Ordinary National Education Test (O-Net) exam for academic year 2019 at Triam Udom Suksa School in Bangkok on Saturday (February 29).

He said that he had surveyed O-Net examination halls in Bangkok and metropolitan areas and found that over 80 per cent of the students were wearing face masks to take the exam.
“The Ministry of Education has distributed face masks produced by students under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission,” he said.
He said that he had discussed with international school administrators about online teaching, while he planned to use such methods to manage people who have a risk of being infected as a guideline for future work.
“Schools which are closed to monitor the outbreak after some people were at risk of being infected will reopen on March 2,” he said. “Meanwhile, the ministry has issued announcements about various measures to tackle the outbreak as well.”
He added that all schools which took students abroad have allowed students and staff to stay away for 14 days.
“About 100 students who travelled abroad were at risk because they had come in contact with sick children,” he added. “The ministry will proceed following the Ministry of Public Health’s policy immediately if any of the children are found to be sick.”
