Ministry expands Covid-19 measures on schools

As a measure to contain the Covid-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Education ordered affiliated authorities to sanitise areas in schools and educational institutions nationwide and strictly follow the ministry’s instructions.

Permanent Secretary and Spokesperson Prasert Boonruang said the ministry expected the outbreak to intensify.
“Staffers from the Office of Permanent Secretary have cleaned and sprayed disinfectants in the ministry's premises to prevent spread of the virus,” he said.
“Moreover, the office also set up sanitising points for people coming to the ministry to wash their hands.
The ministry has expanded its measures to control and prevent the spread of Covid-19, such as asking schools and educational institutions nationwide to postpone boy scout and Red Cross youth activities until the situation returns to normal, closely monitor the situation and follows the ministry's guidelines, he said.
“We ask schools and educational institutions which have held the final examination to close the semester and use media to contact students,” he said.
“Also, we have told Educational Service Area Offices nationwide to contact related authorities, such as Local Administrative Organisations, to clean schools and educational institutions”.
He added that the Minister of Education Natthaphon Theepsuwan had ordered the Office of Vocational Education Commission to produce face masks for distribution to schools and educational institutions in five regions. Each region will be given 10,000 pieces, totaling 50,000 pieces.
Students who sat for the Ordinary National Education Test (O-Net) exam on February 29 were all given face masks,he added.
