Britain sees first coronavirus death
The British government issued a statement confirming the first death in the country from the new coronavirus, or Covid-19.
The woman, in her 70s, was admitted to Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading on Wednesday and had been “in and out of hospital” with underlying health conditions, the hospital said. The unnamed victim was tested on Wednesday but results only came back after she died early on Thursday morning.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK have surged to 116 so far.
