Oil stains, dead humpback dolphin found on Nakhon Si Thammarat beaches

Crude oil stains covered nearly a one-kilometre stretch of the Had Khanom shore at around midnight on March 11. Local organisations went to investigate it while residents gathered to clean the beach.
The district chief said that officials had also found the carcass of a pink Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin and had sent it to Marine and Coastal Resources Research Centre, The Central Gulf of Thailand, for autopsy.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Sichon district, a dead green sea turtle having oil stains was also found on a beach in the district.
Somchai Chalardchaleam, president of marine conservation association in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, said that the province’s beaches had recently encountered several oil stains.
