Chai Nat Bird Park closing for duration

Chai Nat Bird Park closing for duration

The birds of Chai Nat Bird Park won’t be falling silent because of the Covid-19 scare, but hardly anyone will be around to hear them – the park is closing until further notice starting on Saturday (March 20).

Anusorn Nakhasai, chief executive of the Chai Nat Provincial Administrative Organisation, said on Wednesday that the famed 248-rai tourist attraction, which also boasts an aquarium, planetarium, museum and water park, as well as what’s billed as the largest aviary in Asia, is the victim of its own popularity.

“We decided to close the place down to prevent the spread of Covid-19 because the bird park is one of the most-visited tourist attractions in the region,” he said. “The park will reopen again when the situation improves.”

As for the province’s residents in general, Anusorn said he’d instructed local administration offices to urge people to strictly follow the preventive measures recommended by the Public Health Ministry.

“Events that would draw large groups of people have to be cancelled or postponed, and individuals are advised to maintain a safe social distance and wash their hands as frequently as possible,” he said.
