Bangkok Governor Pol General Aswin Kwanmuang handed out personal protective equipment to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) cleaning personnel today (March 24) to reduce the risk of exposure to germs and increase operational safety.

The governor has provided 3,200 sets of personal protective equipment – 1,000 infection prevention suits and 2,200 cleaning aprons – as well as providing 2,200 safety glasses, 12,000 pairs of rubber gloves and 2,200 pairs of boots. Some 1,000 were handed to garbage collectors and 2,200 sets to cleaning staff.

“We received good cooperation after we announced a temporary shutdown of places. However, some entrepreneurs still violate this rule, so the BMA needs to inspect premises, clarify, and undertake cleaning operations as soon as possible,” he said.

“Cleaning staff and waste collectors have to work continuously. Therefore, to prevent the danger that may occur, we must enhance their safety as they perform their duties,” he added.
