Airport trains make masks available

Protective facemasks are on sale at all three Airport Rail Link stations to reduce Covid-19 risk on the trains.

Suthep Phanpheng, State Railway of Thailand managing director for electrified trains, said on Wednesday (March 25) that the masks being sold at Phayathai, Makkasan and Lat Krabang stations were produced by prison inmates for the Department of Corrections and afford protection against both Covid-19 and airborne PM2.5 particulate matter.
Their quality has been certified by the Department of Medical Sciences, he said.
The masks are sold daily from 7.30-9.30am and 4.30-7.30pm, limited to one per buyer.
“We’re asking all passengers to wear a mask in accord with Transport Ministry policy on Covid-19 prevention,” Suthep said.
Department of Rail Transport director-general Sorapong Paitoonphong signed an order on Tuesday requiring all passengers to wear a mask aboard trains and in the stations of State Railways of Thailand, the Airport Rail Link, Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, BTS and Bangkok Expressway and Metro.
