Kanchanaburi eases order on hotels, phone shops

(Update) Authorities in Kanchanaburi province have relaxed measures previously imposed on hotels and mobile phone shops in the fight against Covid-19.

In its latest announcement today, hotels with existing guests and long-term residents can continue to operate, provided preventive guidelines are being followed.
Governor Jirakiat Poomsawad reasoned that the previous order could adversely affect hotel business and in turn the province's economy.
Moreover, there should be accommodations for state officials coming on official duties to Kanchanaburi.
Today's announcement also allows the re-opening of mobile phone shops in department stores, in response to public complaints over the absence of phone repair service.

Earlier the province ordered the closures of more venues, including hotels and resorts. While other venues are still subject to existing measures, including a zoo, a golf course and department stores (except the bank, food and pharmacy sections). The eateries section in department stores are only allowed to sell takeaway food.
