A safe distance on Bangkok buses
Every other seat on Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) buses is now marked “Social distancing – do not sit here” in a bid to stem the spread of Covid-19.
Bench seats normally occupied by two passengers are reserved for just one, on the window side.
Signs also instruct standing passengers to keep at least one metre away from the next person standing. Conductors on buses full to this limited capacity tell anyone waiting at the next stop to keep waiting for the next bus. Passengers are asked to wear a facemask both aboard the buses and while waiting for one.
