Myanmar shuts doors on all foreigners until April 30

The Myanmar Foreign Ministry has suspended the issuance of visas to people of all nationalities effective from Sunday (March 29) until April 30 to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The measure covers all types of visas issued to foreigners except for diplomats certified by Myanmar, UN officials residing in Myanmar and the crew of ships and planes that provide round-trip Myanmar services.
To prevent the spread of the virus, Myanmar had announced a temporary ban on foreigners entering since March 19, including the suspension of visa issuance at the immigration counter and on the internet for all countries from March 21 until April 30.
Myanmar is among the countries least hit by the Covid-19 outbreak with eight confirmed cases so far.
