Hot to very hot conditions forecast for entire country
The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Tuesday (March 31) that a thermal low covers upper Thailand while the southerly and southeasterly winds prevail over the Northeast and the East regions.
Hot conditions still prevail in overall upper Thailand while very hot conditions are forecast for some parts of the North, the Northeast and the Central regions. Isolated light rains are possible in the lower Northeast and the East.
During April 1-4, thunderstorms will be likely in the upper country, first in the Northeast then the rest, accompanied by thundershowers, lightning strikes and gusty winds. Hail is possible for some parts of the North, the Northeast and the East. People in upper Thailand should keep off trees, unsecured buildings and billboards. Farmers should beware of crop damage.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
Northern region: Hot to very hot; temperature lows of 20-28 degrees and highs of 39-42 degrees Celsius.
Northeastern region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-28 degrees and highs of 39-40 degrees Celsius.
Central region: Hot to very hot; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 38-41 degrees Celsius.
Eastern region: Hot with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 26-29 degrees, highs of 34-39 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.
Southern region (east coast): Hot with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-28 degrees, highs of 33-37 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.
Southern region (west coast): Hot with thundershowers in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-28 degrees, highs of 35-39 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and more than a metre offshore.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot during the day; temperature lows of 27-28 degrees, highs of 34-39 degrees Celsius.
