Hot day with thundershowers forecast for upper Thailand

The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Friday (April 3) that a thermal low covers upper Thailand while a high-pressure system from China covers Laos, Vietnam and the South China Sea.

This leads to the southerly and southeasterly winds blowing across the lower North, the Northeastern, Central and the East regions.
Thunderstorms are likely in upper Thailand, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds and hail. People should stay safe by keeping off big trees, outdoor places and unsecured buildings. Farmers should beware of crop damage.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
Northern region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 10 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 20-28 degrees and highs of 40-42 degrees Celsius.
Northeastern region: Hot with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas, gusty winds and hail are possible; temperature lows of 23-26 degrees and highs of 33-38 degrees Celsius.
Central region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-28 degrees, highs of 33-37 degrees Celsius.
Eastern region: Hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 30 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-28 degrees, highs of 32-38 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.
Southern region (east coast): Hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-28 degrees, highs of 33-37 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high.
Southern region (west coast): Hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 35-37 degree Celsius; waves a metre high and more than a metre offshore.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot during the day with thundershowers and gusty winds in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 27-28 degrees, highs of 34-38 degrees Celsius.
