Hotels with guests who arrived prior to the closure order are permitted to stay open until all their guests have checked out but must then close their doors immediately.
They must also inform local authorities of the names and number of guests currently occupying their rooms, so local officials can screen them for infection.
The order exempts hotels used as field hospitals or Covid-19 quarantine venues.
Anyone violating the orders faces a jail term of up to one year and/or a fine of up to Bt100,000.
4th Army Region commander Lt Gen Pornsak Poonsawat today (April 3) launched an operation to sanitise Soi Bangla in the Patong area of Phuket. Joining the operation were soldiers of the 4th Army region and 3rd Naval Area Command, Patong police, and local administration staff.
The Phuket Communicable Diseases Committee reported on Friday (April 3) that 13 new Covid-19 cases were found on Thursday, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the province since January to 100.
Of these patients, 15 have fully recovered and discharged, the rest are in stable condition but hospitalised, while one is in a critical condition.
