Sweltering temperatures forecast for today

The Meteorological Department forecast today (April 6) that a thermal low is covering upper Thailand, resulting in hot-to-very-hot conditions.

The southerly and southeasterly winds are blowing humidity from the South China Sea into the lower North, the Northeast, the Central and the East regions. Thundershowers with gusty winds will likely hit upper Thailand. People should stay safe by keeping away from big trees and unsecured buildings. Farmers should be ready to prevent crop damage, the department said.

Here’s the weather forecast for the next 24 hours:
North: Hot to very hot, with thundershowers and gusty winds in 10 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 22-27 degrees Celsius and highs of 39-42 degrees.
Northeast: Hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 20 per cent of the region, temperature lows of 22-26 degrees Celsius and highs of 34-38 degrees.
Central region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 25-28 degrees Celsius, highs of 37-41 degrees.
East: Hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 20 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 25-27 degrees Celsius, highs of 34-38 degrees; waves a metre high.
South (east coast): Hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 23-27 degrees Celsius, highs of 33-36 degrees; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
South (west coast): Hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the region; temperature lows of 23-27 degrees Celsius, highs of 34-37 degrees; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot to very hot with thundershowers and gusty winds in 10 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 27-29 degrees Celsius, highs of 36-40 degrees.
