Baht unchanged from Monday’s close

The baht opened at 32.72 per US dollar this morning (April 14), unchanged from Monday’s close.

The currency will move between 32.60 and 32.80 per US dollar, said Jitipol Puksamatanan, head of Markets Strategy at SCB Securities.
He said the baht is trading in a narrow range, in line with Asian stock markets. In the short term, the baht’s value will stay at a low level, near the lowest point in the past three-and-a-half years.
On Monday night, the S&P 500 decreased by 1.0 per cent, while US Ten-Year Treasury bonds grew by 0.76 per cent.
In addition, the price of WTI crude oil dropped by 1.4 per cent, though the Opec+ grouping agreed to reduce oil production.
Meanwhile, the US dollar weakened last night in line with the stock market. However, the yen strengthened by 0.9 per cent, while the Australian and the Canadian dollar grew by 0.6 per cent.
