Narathiwat blocks off two hotspots in Rusoh district

Two subdistricts in Narathiwat’s Rusoh district have been identified as Covid-19 hotspots, provincial governor Ekkarat Leesen announced on Thursday (April 16).

The governor, in his capacity as chair of the Narathiwat Communicable Disease Committee, said the risky areas – the subdistricts of Khok Sato and Suwari – will be blocked off until April 30.
“People are prohibited from entering or exiting these areas from April 16 until the end of the month. If the outbreak is resolved, then the authorities may consider lifting the ban,” he said.
“Those who absolutely have to enter or exit these areas should inform the Communicable Disease Control officers and only use routes specified by them.”
He added that violators will be punished with up to a year in prison and/or a fine of up to Bt100,000 under Section 52 of the Communicable Diseases Act. They can also be charged under Section 18 of the Emergency Decree and face up to two years in prison and/or a fine of up to Bt40,000.
