29 provinces free from Covid-19 for two weeks

Twenty-nine provinces across Thailand have not reported any Covid-19 cases in the past 14 days while nearly one-third of the new cases were found in Bangkok, Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Saturday (April 18).

“Those 11 persons [out of 33 new cases] were found to have been in contact with former cases,” he said.
Of the other 22 new patients, two have returned from foreign countries, one had contact with a foreign returnee, two had been to places of public gathering, four had high-risk careers and lived in high-risk areas, one is a medical personnel, 10 were waiting to be investigated for medical history, and two were in quarantine.
In addition, he revealed that no new patient has been found in 29 provinces in the past 14 days. They were Chiang Rai, Phetchaburi, Phetchaboon, Phrae, Mae Hong Son, Kanchanaburi, Kalasin, Chanthaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Buriram, Mahasarakham, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Roi Et, Ratchaburi, Lopburi, Lampoon, Si Sa Ket, Samut Songkhram, Saraburi, Sukhothai, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Amnat Charoen, Udon Thani, Uttaradit, Uthai Thani, Rayong and Tak

Meanwhile, there are no cases in Kamphaeng Phet, Chai Nat, Trat, Nan, Bueng Kan, Phichit, Ranong, Sing Buri and Ang Thong provinces.
“The new patients found in Bangkok and Nonthaburi were more than the total found in other provinces in the country,” the spokesperson said.
"The total patients in Bangkok were 1,401 and 150 in Nonthaburi."
According to information, most of the deceased had diabetes, high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol.
The spokesman explained that the diabetes could destroy human organs and the immune system. An unhealthy body has lower capacity to deal with Covid-19 or to heal itself.
The spokesperson added that concerned officials have run an operation to find infected persons with no suspected symptoms amongst former cases.
