Self-employed workers top list of virus-hit occupations

The Public Health Ministry has reported the 20 occupations that have recorded most coronavirus infections, Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman of the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Tuesday (April 21).

The highest number of infections were recorded among self-employed workers, at 395 cases.
Close behind come business owners, at 308. These are followed by employees and factory workers (235), entertainment venue staff (176), students (164), civil servants (140), medical staff (109), housemaids (106), the unemployed (69), farmers (69), tourists (55), young children (34), hotel staff (33), taxi or public car drivers (27), guides (10), airport staff (9), monks (6), waiters (6), and religious leaders (2).
Patients aged 20-29 years old account for 684 of these cases, which are among the 2,811 recorded nationwide since the outbreak began.
The gender ratio of infections is almost equal at one female infected to every 1.16 males.
