Travellers urged to strictly comply with local restrictions

The government has warned people travelling to other provinces to follow the local restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Deputy Government Spokesperson Traisulee Traisoranakul said on Saturday (May 2).

She said the government was concerned about people’s health while travelling to other provinces during the long holiday weekend in the beginning of May.
“Therefore, we would like to ask people who travel to other provinces to follow the restrictions in each province,” she said.
“People returning to their hometowns must stay in their residence and refrain from gatherings.”
She added that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, acting as director of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), was not in favour of people travelling to other provinces if it were not necessary, as it may spread the virus.
“The government wants people to take a rest during the long holidays in May, while the CCSA would take approximately 14 days to consider easing lockdown measures,” she added.
“We would be able to return to normal life if everyone works together to contain the spread of Covid-19, otherwise we would face difficulties for a long time.”
