Expressways go toll-free for 3 days this month

The Chalerm Mahanakorn Expressway (First Stage Expressway), Si Rat Expressway and Udon Ratthaya Expressway are waiving tolls on May 4, 6 and 11 – holidays for Coronation Day, Visakha Bucha Day, and the Royal Ploughing Ceremony, respectively.
Tollway operators Bangkok Expressway and Metro Pcl and Nippon Express NEC Logistics (Thailand) said the free travel was in line with the Transport Ministry’s amended concession contract to waive charges on official holidays.
The ministry announced earlier that it wants to return the benefits to expressway users during the holidays. It added that motorists should not view the toll waiver as an invitation to travel more, since the emergency decree is still in effect.
