More than a thousand people affected by the Covid-19 crisis marched to the Finance Ministry today (May 5) to demand that they be included in the Bt5,000 handout campaign.

The ministry was unable to receive all of them because of space constraints and safety concerns and asked them to instead go to the Government Public Relations Department next door to submit their complaints.

A large number of people gathering at the Finance Ministry office have led to concern that the social distancing measure cannot be upheld.

Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, secretary to the finance minister, checked the situation at 10.30am.

Some 200 officials from both the Finance Ministry and the Government Public Relations Department were all set to accept people’s complaints until 4.30pm. The first lot alone comprised a queue of 1,500 people.
