Phuket returnees tested and quarantined in Krabi

Phuket returnees tested and quarantined in Krabi

Krabi residents returning to their home province after Phuket lifted its lockdown last week were greeted by mandatory swab-tests on Tuesday (May 5).

Krabi’s governor, Chaiwut Buathong, joined public health officials and Krabi Hospital’s director in overseeing collection of the samples from a group of 76 returnees on Tuesday, as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus. Among the group were 39 who had returned from areas deemed to be at high risk for Covid-19 transmission – Cherngtalay, Patong, Kathu, and Koh Kaew in Phuket. Swab samples were taken from the nasal cavities and mouths of the returnees before being sent for testing.
Returnees from the high-risk areas were sent to quarantine at hotels provided in Krabi for 14 days, while the remainder were allowed to quarantine at their homes under the supervision of public health volunteeres.
