Bt4.75bn digital govt project given green light

The Cabinet on May 5 approved the Digital Economy and Society Ministry's proposal to develop a government data centre plus cloud services at a cost of Bt4.752 billion, said deputy government spokeswoman Rachada Thanadirek.

The project to build a centralised secure system for state agencies to collect and store data is part of state policy to forge a “digital government”.
She added that the project will help state agencies cut the cost of leasing cloud services from other parties, which is estimated to be around Bt5 billion for three years.
The project will also ensure the security of the state agencies' data, given the data will be stored locally according to international standards.
