Makro adds more than 700 to workforce
Makro has announced it will hire 710 employees to boost its online delivery service and create jobs after the pandemic crisis.
Siriporn Dechsingha, CEO of Siam Makro Pcl, said a new company priority was to help people who had lost their jobs due to the lockdown measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The wholesale food operator will hire 250 people for product packing and preparation (pick-pack). All will be trained to specialise in the online shopping system.
The delivery service department will recruit 300 motorcycle deliver riders, 80 delivery drivers and 80 cargo lift personnel.
Makro is also launching a project to support and guide people who want to open grocery stores, to add to the 141 Makro stores already in Thailand. More than 10,000 entrepreneurs have registered for the project, said the company.
