Some 10,000 people visited the Chatuchak Weekend Market on its reopening on Saturday (May 9),

Wanlaya Wattanarat, deputy permanent secretary of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), said.

She said the reopening of the market from 5am to 6pm had gone well as none of the visitors had fever or temperature higher than 37.5 degrees Celsius at the screening points, while traders and people cooperated and complied with safety measures.

Some 20 per cent of the total number of stores were open, or about 2,000 stores, because some shopowners are still in other provinces. She expected more traders and shoppers to turn up on Sunday.
