Hot to very hot weather in upper Thailand, thundershowers in some areas
Hot to very hot weather with thunderstorms, gusty winds and hail will likely occur in the North, the Northeast, the Central region and the East, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast today (May 11), as a high pressure system from China is expected to extend to upper Thailand and the South China Sea while southerly and southeasterly winds prevail over the area.
People should beware of severe conditions, it advised, adding that an easterly wind also prevails over the Gulf and the South, with thundershowers expected.

Northern region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the area, gusty wind and hail are possible; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees and highs of 36-41 degrees Celsius.
Northeastern region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the area, gusty wind and hail are possible, temperature lows of 25-29 degrees and highs of 38-41 degrees Celsius.
Central region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area, gusty wind and hail are possible; temperature lows of 26-29 degrees, highs of 38-41 degrees Celsius.
Eastern region: Hot to very hot with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the area, gusty wind and hail are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 27-29 degrees, highs of 34-40 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Southern region (east coast): Hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 24-28 degrees, highs of 33-37 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 24-26 degrees, highs of 34-36 degree Celsius; waves a metre high and 2 metres during thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Hot to very hot with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 28-30 degrees, highs of 36-39 degrees Celsius.
