Platinum Group unveils ‘new normal’ as malls prepare to reopen

Mall operator Platinum Group has taken measures to minimise the Covid-19 risk ahead of the reopening of businesses on Sunday (May 17). The operator’s Platinum Fashion Mall, the Market Bangkok and Neon Night Bazaar are preparing to open their doors to shoppers as the government lifts more lockdown restrictions.

Kanyaratana Chok-oon-kit, Platinum Group’s president, said all staff and customers will have their body temperatures checked on entry. Shop staff will be checked every three hours, she added.
Moreover, the number of shoppers will be limited to one person per 5 square metres, with floor markings at cashier counters, in lifts, and in toilets to keep people 1 to 1.5 metres apart.
Tables in food courts will be set 1.5 to 2 metres apart, with only one person permitted per table. Perspex shields will be installed at information counters.
The Platinum Group is also promoting a contactless service in its department stores and markets, with staff manning elevators and also encouraging cashless transactions.
The operator will sterilise all touch points every 30 minutes, including tables, floors and chairs, while any clothes in stores tried on by customers will be separated from those on display.
Shop staffs will also be urged to register for the government’s screening application to record their health and travel history, the president added.
