Tutoring school owner gets death sentence for fatal assault on boy, 14

The owner of a tutoring school was sentenced to death by the Nakhon Sawan provincial court on Friday (May 15) for beating to death a 14-year-old student.

Natthaphol Thawornphibul, 28, owner of the “Ban Khru Phee Nat” tutoring school in Nakhon Sawan’s Muang district, brutally assaulted the boy who succumbed to his injuries at Sawan Pracharak Hospital in June 2019.
Natthaphol was joined in the assault by his wife, Pheeraya, 28, and his mother-in-law, Nongluck, 55, in beating up the boy. The convicts were confronted with evidence of their crime which included eight baseball bats and witnesses.
The court gave Natthaphol the death sentence calling it a shocking case where the convict denied the charge and showed no remorse, citing the suspect’s words that he did not intend to kill the boy but only wanted to discipline him. Pheeraya and Nongluck both got life sentences.
The court will let the three submit an appeal within 30 days but denied them bail, resulting in the three being brought to Nakhon Sawan Prison after the verdict.
