Cloudy skies and thundershowers forecast for most of Thailand

The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Friday (May 22) that a rather strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea and Thailand.

Heavy rains are forecast for some parts of Thailand. Moderate wind waves are likely in the Andaman Sea. From Phuket upwards, the department forecast waves two metres high and more than two metres during thundershowers. All ships have been advised to proceed with caution.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:
Northern region: Cloudy, with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees and highs of 35-39 degrees Celsius.
Northeastern region: Mostly cloudy, with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 25-29 degrees and highs of 37-38 degrees Celsius.
Central region: Mostly cloudy, with thundershowers in 30 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 36-39 degrees Celsius.
Eastern region: Mostly cloudy, with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rain; temperature lows of 25-30 degrees, highs of 33-38 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Southern region (east coast): Mostly cloudy, with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 34-36 degrees Celsius; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Southern region (west coast): Mostly cloudy, with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 24-27 degrees, highs of 32-35 degree Celsius; waves two metres high and over two metres duringn thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy, with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 27-28 degrees, highs of 34-38 degrees Celsius.
