Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana said on Friday (May 22) after visiting the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) that the bank had transferred the aid money to 3,222,952 farmers, amounting to around Bt16.115 billion. 
Meanwhile, information on 3,519,434 farmers was being verified and the bank will transfer the aid money during May 22-29. 
The Cabinet had approved monthly payments of Bt5,000 baht for three months (May-July), for 10 million farmers with a budget of Bt150 billion. 
However, many farmers eligible to receive financial aid have not been able to get the money, mostly due to errors in registration -- 97 per cent of cases -- while some had not given proper account details.

BAAC transfers aid money to 3.2 million farmers

Some 3.2 million farmers have received the government aid money while another 3.5 million farmers will receive their share next week.
