Govt targeting low-income people with more financial aid

The Finance Ministry is collaborating with state-owned Specialised Financial Institutions (SFIs) to create new aid measures for the public and businesses affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

The measures will focus on surveying social issues to find jobs and restore incomes for Thais in order to stimulate the economy.
“The Finance Ministry has information about people who have low incomes and have registered for aid programmes,” Finance Minister Uttama Savanayana said today (May 25). “A taskforce will be sent to survey and evaluate these people’s quality of life.”
Moreover, “clinics” where the public can request financial aid will be available in each SFI branch. Requests will be sent on to the relevant organisations, who will address them.
SFIs include the state-owned banks like the SME Bank and also the Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation. SFIs are also tasked with launching new credit plans and other aid for entrepreneurs engaged in e-commerce, which is expected to grow quickly in the “new normal” after the pandemic.
