The baht opened at 31.96 to the US dollar this morning (May 26), unchanged from Monday’s close.

The Thai currency is expected to move between 31.85 and 32.05, SCB Securities senior market strategist Jitipol Puksamatanan said.
On Monday night, the Euro Stoxx 600 increased by 1.5 per cent, while the DAX recovered by 2.9 per cent.
Jitipol said the financial market is focusing on the conflict between the US and China and, at the same time, believes that the global economy is recovering.
The WTI crude oil price stood at $33.70 (Bt1,076) per barrel, and the International Energy Agency is seeing that the global economy in the present conditions was not strong enough to push oil consumption back to pre-Covid-19 levels, he said.
Financial markets were also keenly observing the direction of the dollar index, as this has strengthened for three consecutive days. Most investors have decided to hold the dollar as a way to escape from US-China tension, and reduced the euro in their portfolios due to the possibility that European countries would propose more relaxed monetary policies next month, Jitipol said.
In Thailand, the baht has swung in a narrow range, and weakened with bond yields, while the stock market has recovered. He added that this currency movement has been possibly caused by baht-yuan trading.
