The president of a local rafting business, Lian Chidpak, said yesterday (June 7) that Nong Wai has suffered the impact of the Covid-19 crisis, but the government’s recent lockdown easing has boosted tourism again. However, raft operators and restaurants are taking Covid-19 preventive measures, such as making sanitisers available and checking the temperature of all tourists. Moreover, visitors are limited to 10 per raft and alcohol sales are prohibited.
Nong Wai, a natural lake covering more than 100 rai in Fung Dang sub-district, was developed into a local reservoir and tourist attraction.
The price to rent a raft for the first hour is Bt250 and Bt100 for the next. It’s Bt1,050 for a whole day. Part of the revenue earned is handed to local people to develop their villages.
