Third day without any Covid-19 case in Thailand

For a third successive day, there were no cases of Covid-19, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Wednesday (June 17).

CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin said it was now 23 days without any domestic case of infection in Thailand. If there were no cases for another five days, Thailand could be considered a low-risk country.
Three patients returned home after full recovery.

As of June 17, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 3,135 (2,444 domestic cases and 198 in state quarantine) -- 81 are under treatment, 2,996 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 58 deaths.

Globally, the total number of confirmed cases rose to 8.2 million, increasing by 144,000, with more than 445,000 deaths. Among Asian countries, India continues to see a high number of new cases, with the fourth highest number of Covid-19 patients since the outbreak and over 2,006 deaths being reported on Tuesday. Thailand is 90th in the world in number of cases.
