SMEs to be trained to tap local and overseas markets

The Ministry of Commerce is working on the "Ton Kla To Goal" project to enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the southern, eastern, and northern regions to expand their business in both the domestic and foreign markets.

Somdet Susomboon, director-general of the Department of International Trade Promotion, said that due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the New Economy Academy (NEA) will organise both online and offline training courses.
"We will invite business experts to train SMEs on making a business plan, developing products, and learning about distribution channels to meet consumers' needs," he said. "We will promote SMEs that pass the training to open in new markets that are suitable for each product as well."
Meanwhile, Arada Fuangtong, director of NEA, said that the academy would select 45 of the 450 SMEs who had applied to participate in the project.
"SMEs in the southern region can apply from June 23 to July 3, the eastern region from July 14 to 31, and the northern region from August 3 to 20," she said. "The project will end on August 28 this year."
She added that the academy had prepared to organise approximately 20 projects in the second half of this year to enable entrepreneurs to expand their businesses.
