Five new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed over a 24-hour period, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on Friday (June 19).

Thailand has now reached 25 days without a domestic case, CCSA spokesman Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin said.

All the new patients were returnees from Saudi Arabia. The five male students aged 23-26 were asymptomatic and tested positive on June 16.

Meanwhile, 11 patients were reported to have fully recovered and returned home.

As of Friday, the total number of confirmed cases in the country stood at 3,146 (2,444 domestic cases and 209 found in state quarantine) -- 58 are under treatment, 3,008 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 58 deaths.

Globally, the total number of cases crossed 8.5 million, increasing by 141,000 on Thursday. About 4.53 million have recovered and there have been 456,000 deaths. Thailand is 91st among countries with the most number of Covid-19 cases.
