Five new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours – all in state quarantine

Thailand saw five new confirmed Covid-19 cases without any deaths over a 24-hour period, Dr Panprapa Yongtrakul, assistant spokeswoman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said today (June 23).

Two of the patients – a 31-year-old male student and a 22-year-old housemaid – returned home from Egypt, while thee were returnees from Qatar – a 31-year-old woman, a 22-year-old male masseuse and a 52-year-old crane operator. All were found to be positive after a second test and had not shown any virus symptoms earlier.


Meanwhile, one patient is reported to have fully recovered and returned home in the past 24 hours.


As of today, the number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 3,156 (2,444 domestic cases, 712 who returned from abroad and 219 found in state quarantine). Of these, 75 are under treatment, 3,023 have recovered and been discharged, and 58 have died.


Globally, the number confirmed coronavirus cases have reached 9.1 million, increasing by 141,000 in 24 hours. About 474,000 have died.
