CP shares sustainability expertise at international seminar

Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) today shared its expertise in sustainable development and water management at an international seminar.

“Bright Lights of Asean: Sustainability Insights & Ideas From Leading Companies in the Region” was organised by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international independent standards organisation, and Global Initiatives, a civil society organisation that advances partnership solutions to global sustainability challenges through multi- stakeholder engagement.

Noppadol Dej-Udom

CP’s chief sustainability officer Noppadol Dej-Udom was joined on the panel by his counterpart at DBS Bank, Mikkel Larsen; Sodexo’s Asia-Pacific Corporate Responsibility director Roshith Trashan; and CEO of Re>Pal Indonesia Stephen Bowhill.
Under the topic “Sharing our Sustainability Journey: A Story of CP Group’s Water Stewardship”, Noppadol said CP had set clear sustainability goals and strategies that were in line with GRI standards.
Explaining how CP Group applies circular water management principles, he presented three case studies under the management of Charoen Pokphand Foods: Recycling Wastewater from Shrimp Aquaculture; Wastewater Treatment Systems with Biogas Generation for Swine Farms; and Promotion of Community’s Access to Water in India. Noppadol said the projects represented best practices and innovative solutions that help protect the environment and assist stakeholders.
The case studies reflected CP’s core values and how the company has grown and operated for nearly a century in the agricultural and food industry, he added.

He concluded that six months of the Covid-19 outbreak had taught that positive thinking can unite people to help one another. That lesson should now be used to reach the sustainable development goals together, he added.
