Prayers for prosperity and safety
Many devotees went to pay their respects to the Luang Pho Phet Buddha statue in Phichit province’s Wat Tha Luang temple to mark the start of Buddhist Lent on Tuesday (July 7).
Some devotees also offered boiled eggs, as it is believed that offering boiled eggs to Buddha makes wishes come true.
The Chiang Saen-style Buddha statue, known as Luang Pho Phet, is widely worshipped by Buddhists.
The monastery is open to devotees daily from 6.30am to 6pm.
