Two cases reported in state quarantine

There were two new cases of Covid-19 over a 24-hour period, the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Wednesday (July 8).

Both cases were asymptomatic and found in state quarantine, Dr Panprapa Yongtrakul, CCSA assistant spokeswoman, said.

One patient was a 31-year-old male worker who had returned from India on June 26 -- six other patients found in state quarantine had come by the same flight -- and a 39-year-old male missionary who had returned from Indonesia on June 29.

Meanwhile, two patients have recovered fully and returned home.

As of July 8, the total number of confirmed cases in the country since the outbreak stood at 3,197 (2,444 domestic cases, 753 from abroad and 260 in state quarantine) -- 65 are under treatment, 3,074 have recovered and been discharged, and there have been 58 deaths.

Globally, the total number of confirmed cases reached 11.9 million, increasing by 210,000, and 546,000 have died. The highest number of cases in the world are in the USA (3 million), Brazil (1.6 million), and India (740,000).
