Flood, landslide warning in Japan’s Gifu, Nagano prefectures

In a Facebook post on Wednesday (July 8), the Thai embassy in Tokyo warned Thais living in the prefectures of Gifu and Nagano to beware of floods and landslides caused by heavy rains.

Flood, landslide warning in Japan’s Gifu, Nagano prefectures An embassy official said the Japan Meteorological Agency has announced heavy rains and potential landslides and flooding in Gifu and Nagano, while heavy rain has also been forecast for the Tokai and Kanto regions.

"The Royal Thai Embassy would like to warn Thais living in Japan, especially those who live in Gifu and Nagano prefectures, to beware of the danger of heavy rain, flooding and landslides,” the official said.

"Local authorities have issued an evacuation notice to people in Nagano and Gifu prefectures' cities, namely Agematsu, Anan, Takayama, Gero, Nakatsugawa, and Hida because the Hida River is overflowing.”

The official urged people to follow local authorities advise closely for their safety.

“People can follow the weather forecast and announcements via the Japan Meteorological Agency's website," the official added.
