Rayong hotel shuts doors for 14 days after Egyptian guest tests positive

D Varee Diva Central Rayong Hotel on Tuesday (July 14) announced on its Facebook page (@DVareeRayong) that it will employ three measures in response to the incident where a 43-year-old Egyptian soldier tested positive for Covid-19 after he and 30 other Egyptian soldiers and military staff stayed at the hotel from July 8 to 11.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration said earlier on Tuesday that 394 people were at risk of contracting Covid-19 from the military personnel as he and his group had visited a shopping mall in the province, as per data collected via the ThaiChana platform.
The hotel has put the following measures in place as of Tuesday:
1. All hotel staff are to stop working immediately and undergo Covid-19 tests, after which they will be in quarantine from July 14 to 28;
2. The hotel will shut its doors for at least 14 days as well as disinfect its premises;
3. Guests who have booked rooms between July 14 and 28 are required to change their bookings or contact the hotel for full refund.
