Three Myanmar illegal migrants, agent arrested in two separate cases

Three Myanmar citizens were caught trying to illegally enter Thailand via the Chiang Rai border on Wednesday (July 15), while police arrested an illegal agent in Sa Kaew province.

The men, aged 44, 30 and 25, said they had travelled from Taunggyi in Myanmar and crossed the natural border to take a bus to Bangkok.
The men also said they had each paid Bt5,000 to a Myanmar agent at a port nearby.
The three men have been sent to Chiang Rai’s immigration office for further action.

The woman, who was arrested at a hotel in Aranyaprathet district, confessed to bringing migrants illegally via the natural border between Thailand and Cambodia.
The woman had raised suspicion when she was stamped out of Thailand on Monday (July 13), but had not been stamped back in.
Initial investigation found that no government or police officials had a hand in this woman’s business.
Police said it took them four days to track her down because the locations shown on her social media account were false.
Investigators also discovered that this woman is only an agent for a business run by another woman. Petcharat was initially charged of violating the emergency decree by crossing the natural border between Thailand and Cambodia.
