Port F project could be sunk

The Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) is disappointed after negotiations with bid-winner GPC Consortium over returns to the state in the development of the third phase of Laem Chabang Port (Port F).

“The Cabinet had ordered PAT to negotiate with the bid winner to increase returns to the state from the default amount of Bt32.2 billion by at least 100 per cent,” PAT director-general Lt Jg Kamolsak Promprayoon said. “However, GPC Consortium did not agree to the increase in returns to the state from the amount they proposed during bidding,” he added.
“PAT will now propose to the Eastern Economic Corridor Office the estimated investment costs versus the agreed returns to the state to consider whether the project should proceed or not,” said Kamolsak.
The GPC Consortium includes PTT Tank Terminal, a subsidiary of PTT; Gulf Energy Development, and China Harbour Engineering.
GPC won the bidding for the Port F development project over NPC Consortium, which consists of Associate Infinity, Nathalin, Prima Marine, PHS Organic Healing, and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, which failed to meet the qualifications set by PAT in the bidding that was organised back in April.
