Gold prices hit new high
The price of gold increased by Bt50 per baht weight as of 10.21am today (July 22), compared to its price in opening trade at 9.31am.
A bar of gold cost Bt27,700 per baht weight for selling and Bt27,600 for purchasing, while gold ornaments were priced at Bt28,200 and Bt27,106, respectively.
As of 9.31am, the price increased by Bt350 compared to the closing price yesterday, a historically new high.
A gold bar was priced at Bt27,650 per baht weight for selling and Bt27,550 for purchasing, while gold ornaments cost Bt28,150 and Bt27,060.60, respectively.
The Gold Spot price this morning moved to around $1,858 (Bt58.702) per ounce, increasing from $1,843 yesterday. It was the highest point in almost nine years as investors had hopes that the US and EU economies would recover quickly. A weakening dollar also played a role in the increasing gold price.
The Hong Kong gold price meanwhile opened at HK$17,050 (Bt69,362) per tael this morning, increasing by HK$190.
